Starting to feel like home

Thigns always seem to pick up speed once I get used to them the way they are. Such is life.
I have been reading a text called "American Education" by Joel Spring that makes me sad to want to be a teacher so badly. It portrays even the best teachers as those swimming upstream in a system that wants them to fail at being anything more than mediocre and run-of-the-mill.
On the other hand, there is the course reader. It has articles that show how things could and should change, what I can do personally to make things better in the teaching world. It reaffirms my genuine and deep-rooted interest in teaching.
It is really starting to feel like home here in Davis. Everyone important has been introduced to my apartment and I just ordered some posters to dress up the walls. The drive here feels natural and I don't mind the commute. It's all falling into place.
I hope that it works out that Ryan can stay here over the holidays and over next summer. I was thinking it would be cool for us to invest in a Vespa to motor around town that way we can both have means of transportation and then I could keep it for next year. I think they're sporty and cute.
Kinda like the Ryans, haha. He's a sweet guy. I give him a lot of flack for not paying me attention or for not writing, but really I don't care. We talk on the phone a good amount about important things or about nothing at all. He keeps me occupied on the drive to work and thoughts of him keep me occupied while I'm working. :) Things are pretty cool at the moment.
Bella scratched my eyelid today. Very not cool. It's a little swollen and all red. No good. :(
That's just about the only bad news to report at the moment, though. :)
